This is the kind of movie which is absorbing due to its subject matter but not much else. Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a legend, and rightfully so. I find her story incredibly absorbing, which is one reason I loved the biographical film. But this one suffers by comparison, because as others said, it is paint-by-numbers and bland. And no, that's not just because it is competing with the real person or the other film. It could have been a lot better than it is. I agree who those who say it is miscast, which is why it surprises me that RBG herself apparently "approved" the main casting (not that she would have had much of a choice, since she is a public figure and the filmmakers could cast whoever they wanted. I think Felicity Jones fits the role physically, and maybe in terms of style, which is understated and I guess what is meant to be steely? But it all seems surface to me. One reviewer said the problem with the depiction of Ginsburg is that this one has no humor. Well, neither does Felicity Jones. I watched her host SNL and she was one of the most boring hosts I have ever seen. And I have been watching since it first aired. Which is not to say she isn't a decent actress, but she isn't great. She was pretty mediocre in Rogue One too, now that I think of it. I just think this is the kind of movie that is in no way exceptional. Not in terms of the subject herself, who obviously is. but in terms of filmmaking. It's a total Chestnut, and Chestnuts need really really strong performances at the center to be truly good films. This movie is ok, and if you are a big fan of RBG, you will probably enjoy it. or not, because again, this version just doesn't seem real. It's too pat.

She was emotional and angry for the first and half hours- The husband and her daughter are stars and need to calm her all the times- I think the documentary is much better than this. Anyway, it is a good story and the camera is good. Just not a good movie.
